Many opportunities exist to engage everyone, including students, tourists and local communities, in learning about the unique conservation, geological, archaeological and cultural heritage of the land within the Barkindji Biosphere. Information about tourism experiences will be added to the web site as they become operational. For example, the International Flight Centre project is currently creating a fantastic experience for birdlovers by guiding visitors through a series of specially constructed bird hides, on a sanctuary which has been inaccessible to the public since the 1930s. This is a community business partnership. The education program aims to bring school students to the Biosphere for hands-on conservation and learning experiences. This program will be promoted in detail once the initial Education Program project is complete. This has been funded by Environment Australia, the Commonwealth Department responsible for the environment. |
