The strength of a community can be measured by its cooperation and commitment in accepting new challenges and creating a better environment. The Barkindji Biosphere has been singularly successful in gaining widespread support from a wide range of local community interest groups, including:

The Barkindji Biosphere is championed by a local community organisation, the Australian Inland Botanic Gardens Inc., which has its own history of successful conservation projects and demonstrations of sustainable development, especially in relation to salinity management and best-practice drip irrigation.
